WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Cookies are small text files that sites visited by users send to their terminals, where they are stored and then transmitted back to the same sites on the next visit. Cookies from so-called "third parties" are, on the other hand, set by a website other than the one the user is visiting. This is because on each site there may be elements (images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that reside on servers other than that of the site visited.

WHAT ARE COOKIES USED FOR?

Cookies are used for different purposes: performing computer authentication, session tracking, storing information about specific configurations regarding users accessing the server, storing preferences, etc.

TYPES OF COOKIES

Cookies can be identified in two macro-categories: "technical" cookies and "profiling" cookies.

Technical cookies

These are cookies that are used to perform navigation, to optimally manage the donation process or to provide a service requested by the user. They are not used for any other purpose and are normally installed directly by the website owner.

Without the use of such cookies, some operations could not be performed or would be more complex and/or less secure.

Profiling cookies

Profiling cookies are aimed at creating profiles related to the user and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user when browsing the web.

Session Cookies

Technical cookies include session cookies that are stored on the user's computer for purely technical-functional needs, for the transmission of session identifiers necessary to enable the safe and efficient exploration of the site; they are deleted at the end of the "session" (hence the name) when the browser is closed. This type of cookie avoids the use of other computer techniques potentially prejudicial to the privacy of users' browsing.

Persistent Cookies

Instead of vanishing when the browser is closed, as is the case with session cookies, persistent cookies expire on a specific date or after a specified period of time. This means that, for the entire lifetime of the cookie (which can be long or short depending on the expiration date decided by its creators), its information will be transmitted to the server every time the user visits the website, or every time the user views a resource belonging to that site from another site (such as an advertisement). For this reason, persistent cookies can be used by advertisers to record information about a user's web browsing habits for an extended period of time. However, they are also used for "legitimate " reasons (such as keeping users logged into their accounts on websites in order to avoid, with each visit, entering credentials to access websites).

Third Party Cookies

Cookies stored on behalf of third parties and may themselves be session or persistent.

COOKIES USED BY THIS SITE
